It is often via the Airgun that many of
the older generation first learned to shoot. In times past (before the days
of X-Box and Playstation) a youth’s bedroom often included an air
pistol or rifle (which was not always used in the safest way).
Times & Laws governing the purchase, ownership & use of Air Guns
are much changed. We are happy to welcome anyone interested in Airgun Shooting. We take this discipline seriously and now have a thriving Airgun quorum within the Club. There are competitions, in our calendar, for both Air Rifle and Air Pistol and we host “Open Days” when we invite along non-members to participate in our competitions. If you are under 18 years of age we welcome your interest and would like to see you at the Club however, because of recent amendments to the law, it would be best if you attended with a parent or guardian. This is because it is now an offence to allow anyone, under the age of 18, to have unauthorised access to any type of airgun. It also means anyone who owns an airgun must ensure it is secured in a manner that prevents anyone who is under the age of 18 getting hold of it. It is also unlawful for anyone under the age of 18 to purchase airgun pellets. You might find it’s a good plan, if you’re just starting
out, to bring yourself along to the Club prior to purchasing your airgun.
The reason for this is there’s a confusing amount of choice, on
the market, and what’s right for you may not be the product which
is receiving the heaviest promotion! We are not short of experience or
expertise and the advice of our Airgun members may save you some frustration
and, in the long run, a few pennies as well! |
