Small Bore

In times past the term “smallbore” referred to any firearm with a lesser than .577 inch calibre! Today it tends to refer to the .22 inch calibre pistol or rifle which is chambered for the 0.22 Long Rifle round.
In our Club .22 shooting is very popular. Possibly the cost and availability of ammunition has something to do with this!
This is often the next step up from Airgun shooting and is a discipline which requires considerable skill to perfect. This may be why some clubs dedicate themselves to this exclusively.
We compete for trophies which are dedicated solely to the .22 Rim-fire but this calibre can also be used for Gallery Rifle and Long-Barrelled Pistol and Revolver competitions where a range of calibres would qualify.
